    1. Given my new pastoral role focusing on those in the second half of life, I have gathered a dozen or so resources to help with personal development. While I have not yet read all of them, this one stands apart so far as a rich resource, from its counter-cultural insights about aging to its practical ideas for significant ministry for and by seniors.


    2. The book does a good job of pointing out the need for ministry for Seniors. It provided some new ideas for how to minister to caregivers, and those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's. All throughout the book the authors make the point that Seniors have much to contribute to the church and should not be set aside. They also stress that young people have much that they can learn from seniors and need to have regular points of contact. Amen to both of these points. The major flaw of the book i [...]


    3. A tidal wave is coming. The baby boomers have already started reaching the age of retirement and as they age, they will change everything. Is the church ready? And how can elders benefit the church? How does the church support and encourage not only elders but caregivers? This is an outstanding, passionate book. It repeats itself a little and goes off track once in awhile, but overall, is very good. I would encourage any young person to look at some type of gerontology as they prepare to work in [...]
