Beachcomber Baby

This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. A baby turns up and her mum needs to be found. Investigators Dane and Shana take on the case even though Dane is reluctant. They get more than they bargain for by taking on this case. I found this to be a well written mystery thriller with some great twists and turns. Looking forward to reading more of this authors books.

Interesting start to the story. Interesting chemistry and relationship between the two main characters too. A good way to put it "a war of love and hate". Just like the book blurb implies in the early few sentences, a found babyeasy peasy. Shana was eager to get back in the game with an easy case, anything to get working again Dane knows better than that. He knows that cases with babies so often turn out bad, gut wrenching bad. Before I go any further, let me note that I received this book in exchange for a honest review and anyone that knows me knows how brutally honest I can be. The story and plot were fantastic. It started off a little slow while reintroducing all the characters in the series and the writing was very stilted through the first half of the book with many unnecessary words. Another winner in the Beachcomber series. In this book, Dane and Shana take on a baby case, over Dane's strenuous objections. Shana is passionate about taking the case because the baby needs them, but she doesn't know about Dane's history with babies. This is a well crafted mystery with plenty of action and drama. This is a captivating read with fascinating characters and a plot that includes action, adventure, baby trafficking, tragedy, twists, turns, family drama, secrets, mystery and a bit of romance. Once I started reading, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what would happen next as I laughed, cried and cheered. This is the first book I have read by this author and I enjoyed it very much. Lots of action and drama. I did not expect pretty much anything that happened in the book so that easily kept my interest. I wish there was a little more romance since it is clear that Shana and Dane love each other but hopefully the author continues to expand their relationship in the future.Disclaimer: I received the book for free through First Reads. Shana and Dane are partners and in this case they are contacted when a baby is left at a church. They try to find out who the baby belongs to and then protect the baby from the people trying to get to her. This was the first book that I have read by Stephanie Queen. It won't be my last. This book is full of twists and turns, action, and mystery. This is one of those books that once you start reading, be prepared to be sucked in and forget to go buy milk, eat dinner, and let the dogs out! I will definitely be reading the rest of her books!
